Training/Lessons

I have been raising and training horses and dogs for most of my life. I raised Quarter Horses for many years and competed in Reining, Western Pleasure, Trail, Team Penning and then found out that “Cutting” was my passion. After winning the ARCHA Reserve Cutting Champion award, family took priority and I hung up my spurs in cutting.

Always having dogs around, I knew they had to be versatile and athletic, as well as be family pets. So, temperament, disposition and health were prime characteristics I sought out. After many different breeds lived long and healthy lives with us, I found the Australian Shepherds were the breed that best suited my life style and my future aspirations.

I have taken training courses in Agility, Obedience, Rally O, puppy, tricks with local positive trainers. As my dogs engaged and grew in these setting, my desire to learn more about positive training methods lead me to enroll in the Dogma Certified Behavior Consultant program where I became a Certified Dogma Dog Trainer (DDT).

The Dogma program is a comprehensive dog training apprenticeship program that included over 400 hours of classroom theory, observation and class assistance. Topics included canine communications, learning theory, positive training methods, reactivity and aggression, Pet First Aid and more. I have also attended seminars and workshops in a number of different disciplines, especially in my love for the sport of agility.
